THE TOWN OF BADANTE WOMEN
In 2008 I published the article “Lavoro como badante” (researching the life of Bulgarian women from Northwestern Bulgaria working in Italy) in the Capital weekly newspaper in Bulgaria.
Very soon after that the article was translated and published in numerous European media (incl the Italian La Repubblica) and can be read here.
The Bulgarian film director Stefan Komandarev proposed to me to make a documentary based on the story and we worked together on the film “The town of badante women” (2010) – the film opened the 14th Sofia Film Festival and was shown at the GOATMILK Festival, in Italy, Slovakia, Kosovo, Mazedonia, Germany and on many festivals, conferences and forums on migration.
I did an additional research in 2010 in Italy and presented it at the Sigmund Freud University in Vienna (women migration and melancholia). The research was a case study 2015 in Vienna at a Conference about transnational mobility organised by Stop and Go Project.
