How I became part of the WE AHR STRONG Photography Collection

Jul 21, 2026

In April 2026, Dutch photographer Ruben Timman, founder of the Museum of Humanity, came to the Ahr Valley to portray people who had experienced the devastating floods of 2021. That is how Martin and I found ourselves in front of his camera. For me, it was a deeply moving encounter that awakened powerful emotions.

I am grateful to be part of the collective portrait WE AHR STRONG—a tribute to the region where I have lived since 2020 and with which I feel deeply connected.

The exhibition opened on 14 July, the fifth anniversary of the floods, and is being shown in four towns across the Ahr Valley.
